SpyGames

I would say that this is a good thriller however you could argue that it isn't a good thriller as there are characteristics of a thriller that are missing such as it didn't build alot of tension and it didn't keep us at the edge of our seat and there was no cheap surprises. there wasn't much enigma codes. However there is a aspect of mystery which creates supense thus building the tension and it did build questions in our minds. There were alot of action and is alot of fast pace. There is a sense of red herring. We have our protaganist and antaganist. overall it is a good thriller as it had most of the characteristics of a thriller.

Ethnicity practise exam

West 10 LDN-7?/7

Ethnicity is represented when the director uses the editing techniques shot reverse shot. This is used to show a conversation between two people where the shot goes from one person to the next then goes back to the person it started with. this is reprsented in the scene where the black guy and the white guy was having a diagetic dialogue where the shot started with the white guy. This connotes that the white hut is superior to the black guy as the shot started with him. The scene represents a typical reprsentation of a white guy as they are usually more dominant than black people. Ethnicity is also represented through shot reverse shot again with the mix raced girl and the black guy when she was opening the door where the mixed race girl was dominating the shot which shows she is superior to the black guy.The pace of the clip is used to reprsent the different ethnic group. Pace refers to how long or short a clip stays onscreen for. This is represented through the scene where the black guy was having a diagetic dialogue between the black guy as there is longer pace on the black. Here the black gut is subverting from a typical representation of a black guy as we don't usually expect a black guy to have a longer pace than the white guy. Ethnicity is represented through the editing technique of match on action. This is when the action is shown from different camera angles. This is evedent in the scene where the girl is opening the door to see who was there. This connotes she is superior as it allows us to focus on her as we are following her action.
Ethnicity is reprsented by the use of cinematagrapy when the director uses the rule of third. This is when the shot is divided in threes which allows us to focus on wht's in the center. This is shown in the scene where the black guy and mixed race girl was looking at each other in the shot reverse shot where the black guy dominants his shots as he was more in the center of his shots than the mixed race girl.
Mise en scene is used to represent the different ethnic group when the director uses Props. These are anything that the director uses on set. This is shown in the scene where the black guy was exchanging drugs or ganja for money. This represents that he is from a ethnic background as it is a sterotypical representation of a young black guy as they are ecpected be be in the business of drug dealing. The use of props also shows ethnic group through custome. These are clothing that characters wear. This is evident with the black guy in a yellow hoody which is a typical representation of a young black guy as they usually wear hoodies which he is conforming to a typical representation.
Ethnicity is represented through sound by the use of the diagetic dialogue. This is a conversaation between two or more people. This is evident in the scene with the black guy and white guy where the black guy was talking more than the white guy. Here the black guy is subverting from a typical representation as we dont expect to be more talkative than the white guy because the white guy is expected to be more educated than the black guy. However we can say that he is conforming because of his language when he says blood which is how a typical reprsentation of how a young black guy talks.

Disability

In the scene the director uses cinemaatagraphy to differeianate the difference between the disable person and the able persons. This is shown as he uses high angle which shows inferiority which shows that the able person is dominant over the Bobby. This is shown in shot on Bobby the disabled guy when they show a mid shot showing the three guys Bobby,Dean and Sam.another high angle was shown on Bobby in the over the shoulder shot while a low angle on Dean in the scene where the two was talking. this again shows that the disable person is inferior, this is subverting to a typical disabled person as they are usually represented as a weak person.

The direstor uses midshot which ususally shows a person's head to waist and a close up which allows us to focus on the characters face. This is shown when Dean and Bobby was talking and Dean was about to leave a mid shot was used on Dean while a close was used on Bobby. This connotes that Bobby was our main focus as he was dominating this scene, here he is subverting a our expectation as he is represented as the stronger one here.

The director uses editing techniques represent disability such as pace of the shots. This is how face and slow a shot is shown on screen. This is shown in the dialogue with Bobby and Dean and the clip where the hree of them were talking. there were longer takes on Bobby than the rest of the characters this connotes that Bobby is more important and he's dominating the scene so we could focus on him which again he's subverting from a typical disabled person. However we could say that he is conforming as the longer takes could mean that he's weak showing he is disabled he need's more attention than of a abled person.

Social class

The Director uses cinematography to represent social class. He uses a high and low angel to show the difference in social class. This is shown when Maria and the guy was having diegetic dialogue and a low angle was shown on they guy and then and high angle was shown on Maria in the over the shoulder shot. It show that they guy is of an higher class than Maria. Even though a low angle is on Maria she submerges from a typically working class.
He also uses the rule of thirds. He uses this so we focus on the woman in the middle. this is shown when Maria was cleaning the rooom and the two lady was at the front of her and she was in the middle. the two ladies were placed at the front to show they are more powerful than of Maria who as no power. which here she Maria is conforming to typical working class as we see her working.
The director uses sound to represent the difference in social class. He uses the difference in tone of voice . This is shown in the diegetic dialogue between Maria nad the lady whereas the lady as a more posh and sophisticated tone of voice than of Maria.
